Politicians are urging the Government to ensure that Google's new Latitude phonetracking software is not used to infringe people's privacy.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Google and Cisco are viewed as top contenders to enter the Dow Jones industrial average now that two constituents are trading below $2, making their status as blue chips tenuous.

Vodafone is reported to be considering switching its mobile search service from Google to Yahoo when their existing contract expires at the end of this year.

Google has agreed to settle an intellectual property claim brought by serial inventor Judah Klausner, who has won settlements in the past from Apple, Skype and LG Electronics, Klausner said on Monday. 

Google's e-mail service, used by more than 100m people, suffered a global crash yesterday, raising concerns about the world's growing reliance on web services.
